There is a grey area when it comes to gambling on the latest GTA V release. Players use the in-game GTA currency to place bets in this casino. While you can earn this currency through your activities in-game, you can also use real-world money to purchase it. However, there is no monetary value attached to it, as there is no way to exchange the play money back for real currency.
Gamers encountered a similar issue on another Rockstar title, Red Dead Redemption, when poker was added to the multiplayer game. However, this was a much less significant update compared to the GTA V one.
That's a pretty quick decision. The new Casino DLC in 'GTA Online' (TU 1.47 Patch 1.31) has barely appeared, as the extension has been blocked in many countries for illegal gambling.
Only yesterday there were several reports that the DLC could be interpreted as gambling. The background is that players can invest real money to play in typical casino games. The problem is that on the one hand, you can not regain real money, but maximum in-game content receives, and on the other never knows the exact equivalent value for its use.
